Piston driven ARs are favorites among many shooters due to the advantages that they offer over direct impingement systems, but one problem with piston guns is the added weight that comes with a piston system. To try to solve that issue, the engineers at VKTR Industries created a the VK-1 piston system which offers all the piston benefits but with the same footprint and weight of a standard direct impingement system. The VK-1 complete upper receiver utilizes this system, with optimum gas port sizing, an improved gas seal, and a staged gas bleed system that reduces the operating rod's inertia. This system results in a lightweight design which is flatter shooting and cleaner running than DI guns and other piston driver ARs. The upper receiver is thermal fit with the barrel to provide the best accuracy possible and reduce heat related shifting of point of impact. A low profile handguard with M-LOK slots allows the end user to attach a wide variety of M-LOK compatible accessories such as lights and foregrips to setup the VK-1 to fit their exact needs. This upper also includes a HUXWRX QD flash hider muzzle device pinned and welded to the barrel. This VK-1 upper has a barrel length of 13.7", but the permanently affixed muzzle device brings the overall barrel length to just over 16". With its patented operating system and a whole host of premium add-ons, the VK-1 Complete Upper from VKTR Industries is the culmination of piston-driven AR-15 design.
